I am happy to announce that our project will be funded by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) as 2209/A Undergraduate Student Project.
Our study will explore expressions of CD133 and CD44 surface markers in polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs). CD133 and CD44 are cancer stem cell markers and PGCCs show cancer stem cell-like features, hence we will investigate the expression levels of CD133 and CD44 in these cells.
This is my second TUBITAK grant in medical school and hopefully, these projects will make it possible to do research in the future independently. We are writing the results of my first project currently. Also, I had a chance to present that study at an AACR congress. I hope to have meaningful output from this new project.
I am grateful to Dr. Eda Açıkgöz for this opportunity.
